Same, Same But Different and Border Country to be shown in Berlin and Vienna at the European Month of Photography 2012.
September 6, 2012
I will be showing two portfolios of works at the European Month of Photography in Berlin and Vienna. In Berlin I will be showing a new black and white street photo art series entitled 'Same, Same But Different' shot in various locations from my travels over the last couple of years. The text that follows is what will accompany the exhibition in Berlin.
Dark streets, silhouetted buildings and figures: At a first glance the night time urban scenes illuminated by single streetlights seem to portray the very same location. Only when looking at it more closely the differences become visible. As it often happens in a global reality the diversity in James Clancy’s black-and-white photography also is in the detail. His portrayals of nightly city life originate in Dublin, Cork, Berlin, Paris, Zagreb and Macau.
Same, Same But Different will be exhibited at the Irish Embassy from the 19th October to 25th November. Border Country will be on show in Vienna at the Gallery Steiner for the month of November.
